The Gokyo Lakes and how to get there!
This amazing Everest Gokyo trek begins with a beautiful flight to Lukla from Kathmandu with great views of green and white mountains. From Lukla, the starting point of the trek we pass several village, high passes and finally reach to the destination. After exploration, we will return back to Kathmandu.
The route follows the same trail as the Everest Base Camp Trek, up until Namche Bazaar. After a day of exploring this magnificent Sherpa Village we head on a different route towards Gokyo. The trails are filled with natural beauty and charming rustic villages on the way to Machermo. From here a one day hike brings us up to the Gokyo Lake, Nepal’s deepest lake! Himalayan Friends ha a relaxing day organized to roam around Gokyo Lake and hike up to Gokyo Ri, a viewpoint overseeing the entire lake and its surrounding Himalayan Mountains! Having completed our first half of the trek we prepare to meet Mt. Everest and its base camp. The way there is a bit challenging, as we face the Cho La Pass at a height of 5,420m/17,782ft.! Obviously the views are absolutely incredible from up there, and the journey continues until reaching Lobuche where we join back on the trail of EBC. Just a few days of trekking takes us to Everest Base Camp, the feeling is amazing, we reached it! The next morning an even spectacular event is planned when we hike up Kala Pattar early in the morning to see a sunrise view of Mt Everest.
Taking the route of Periche to reach back to the familiar village of Namche Bazaar, allows us to enjoy some of the last up close views of the Everest region in Nepal. We follow the same trail back to Lukla and prepare for our morning flight back to Kathmandu to conclude the Everest Gokyo Trek.
