Phuri knew that some day I would return to Nepal, where we lived 2014-2017, so I could explore the Everest region with his team. We spoke about it. I dreamed about it. We made it happen. In August 2022, I was fortunate to jump on a plane to Lukla, arrive in Khumbu and spend 12 extraordinary days of wonder and discovery as we traveled up to Everest Base Camp and over to the pristine Gokyo lakes, completing two high mountain passes: Chola and Renjo La. Phuri, Rinji and Ang Kaila have a way of working together that is unique and unparalleled in the region. They allow you a window into Sherpa culture based on their strong connections and carefully cultivated trekking relationships. Many local leaders became our tea stops and I was able to gain insight into the sociopolitical push/pull factors of the region. I got to stay my last night in their family home and witness potato harvest season. My guide was pure gold! Not only did Ang Kaila stay in tune with my goals, he pushed me even further than I believed was possible when I let him know I was in marathon training mode. He watched my body, mind, spirit and ensured I was eating/hydrating ever step of the way. We did this adventure together, putting safely first, and checking in all along the way. My porter, Jeevan, was kind and knew the terrain. Arriving home I look back at this solo trek experience with new appreciation for Sherpas, for the region, and for the close support from Phuri’s wonderful family. You can trek in Nepal with many outfits, and will ultimately have a grand experience, but if you are looking for a way to get out there with a company that cares about you to make the trek truly unforgettable and life changing, I recommend you go with Himalayan Friends!
Review for 15 days Everest Base Camp Trek
We knew Himalayan Friends already but this 8 days Buddhist Monastery Trek in the Khumbu Area was one of my best. Phuri took well care from the first to the last moment, we felt highly supported from the Team who organised the Trip from Kathmandu and also from our Guide Pasang and our Porter Dawa, who never lost his fresh smile. Pasang realised our physical capacity and considers it in every moment. It was a very private and familiar Trek where we became deeper friends with Phuris Sherpa Family in the Khumbu Area. Every Step was organised so well and flexible and warmhearted they took care of us. We had been blessed with the best weather conditions and the last days, where it was to rainy to fly back from Luka with a plane, Phuri organised us a Helikopter Flight which was spectacular.

I have travelled around the world for hiking and backcountry skiinig. My trekking to Everest BC and Kalapathar is the best trip of all my trips. My guide Dendi Sherpa was fantastic as was the porter. The trip was well organized and all the details taken care of. I can highly recommend this company and their guides and staff.
Review for 15 days Everest Base Camp Trek
We had only limited time for trekking and Himalayan Friends Trekking (HFK) had the perfect solution for us. We did an 8 day Buddhist Highlight Trek in the Everest Region. We are two Buddhists, so we were thrilled to experience the ages old Buddhist Sherpa culture. The peak experience was Tengboche Monastery in the Heart of the Everest Region. HFK did not just provide flights to/from Lukla in a matter of days, also they made possible the most amazing Trek with qualified guide (an Everest summitter !) and porter. Good acclimatization was a priority which we appreciated. Service was spotless, personnel highly experienced and fulfilling our every wish. But Phuri‘s company will not just do what every other company does. When the going gets rough HFK gets going ! We had a very bad weather Periode in Lukla at the end of our Trek. HFK facilitated an airlift to KTM by helicopter for a moderate surcharge. That flight was definitely a lifetime experience! A company that is by your side not only on Sunny days (and till you paid their invoice) but which will go a long way to guarantee satisfaction, safety and joy. 5 stars for a HFK. start as Partners and we all end as Friends. I had three open weekends in Nepal during a work trip, and Phuri and his fantastic team kept me busy with a mix of exactly what I was looking to do with every free minute of my time. From a 3-day trek out of Pokhara with the amazing Dendi to a mix of day treks and tours (with knowledgeable guides and safe & efficient drivers) around the Kathmandu Valley, I ventured as far and experienced as much as I could. I was traveling solo, but it all felt like time spent with friends and family! I can't wait for the next trip.
